The folding chair shown has an innovative tip-up mechanism that provides numerous advantages for managing directors of a stadium, theater or educational institutions, as well of spectators. As the theater goer stands, the gravity uplift counterweight mechanism causes the back of the chair to move downward as the chair tips up. The armrests in the same motion automatically fold up. This results in a thin envelop with a greater theater seating capacity.
